Red Hawks Drop Pair of Matches On Saturday

OWATONNA, Minn. -
The Ripon men's tennis team lost a pair of hard fought matches on Saturday, losing 5-4 to Bethany Lutheran, and 7-2 to Simpson College.

Against Bethany Lutheran, the Red Hawks' two wins came in singles play, as Eric Seiler won his match at the number one flight, 6-0, 6-0, and J.J. Grinde was victorious at the fourth flight, 6-2, 6-0. In doubles play, Bethany Lutheran (3-7) won all three matches by a combined score of 24-10, with Seiler and Lincoln Wurtz teaming up at the top flight for Ripon (0-8), narrowly losing, 8-6.

In the day's other match, against Simpson (1-4), Ripon won two of the six singles matches. Seiler improved to 6-2 on the season at the number one flight with a 6-1, 6-1 victory, while Grinde won his number three match, 7-5, 6-2. Ripon also won two doubles matches, as Seiler and Wurtz teamed up at the top flight for an 8-4 victory, while Grinde and Pheng Vang won the third doubles flight, 8-3.

Ripon will be in action again on March 7, when they'll battle Adrian College and Edgewood College. Those matches will begin at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, at Green Bay Tennis Center in Green Bay, Wis.
