Red Hawks Lose Tough Matches To Cornell and Grinnell

Ripon lost both of their matches on Saturday, first falling to Cornell College by a score of 9-0, before losing to the 17th-ranked team in the region, Grinnell College, by an identical score.

Against Cornell (10-13, 3-4 MWC) the Red Hawks (2-18, 1-8 MWC) the top five singles matches, and the sixth by default, with Eric Seiler's top flight match being the most competitive in a 6-1, 6-3 defeat. In doubles play, Cornell outscored Ripon 16-3 in the first two matches, before taking the third by default.

Grinnell (25-10, 8-0 MWC) extended their undefeated conference record with the win over Ripon. The Pioneers won the top five singles flights, while winning the sixth by default. They won the top two doubles matches by a combined score of 16-1, while winning the third by default.

The Red Hawks will close out their regular season on Sunday with a match at Marian University, which will begin at 10 a.m. in Fond du Lac, before taking part in next weekend's Midwest Conference Championships.
