Ripon's men's tennis team lost both of their matches Saturday on what was the opening day of conference play. They began the day with a 6-3 loss at Illinois College, which was followed by an 8-1 defeat at Monmouth College.

Against Illinois College (1-4, 1-0 MWC), the Red Hawks (0-9, 0-2 MWC) won two of their six singles matches and one of their three doubles matches. In singles play, Adrian Granados was victorious at the number five flight, winning 3-6, 6-3, 10-1. Omari Chenault also gave the Red Hawks a team point with a win at the sixth flight by a score of 6-2, 6-1. In doubles play, Chenault teamed up with Junmo Kwon to give Ripon a team point at the third flight with an 8-3 victory.

In the nightcap against Monmouth (4-8, 1-0 MWC), Ripon's only team point came in singles play. Chenault won his sixth flight match by a score of 6-3, 6-2.

The Red Hawks will be in action again on Sunday when they'll travel to Knox College for their third conference match in two days. That match will begin at 2 p.m. in Galesburg, Ill.
