Red Hawks Drop Two Matches In Final Tune-Up For MWC Championships

The Ripon College men's tennis team lost a pair of 9-0 decisions Sunday in their final matches before next weekend's Midwest Conference Championships, falling to both Lawrence and Lake Forest.

In their first match of the day, Ripon lost all six matches to Lawrence in Appleton, before also losing the three doubles matches by a combined score of 24-3. The most competitive match came at the third singles flight where Junmo Kwon lost 6-3, 6-2 in a hard-fought battle.

The Red Hawks closed the day by losing a home match to Lake Forest on Sunday afternoon. The Foresters won all six singles matches and won the top two doubles matches by a combined score of 16-1, before winning the third by forfeit. Kwon again put up the biggest fight for the Red Hawks in singles play, losing in the number five flight by a score of 6-4, 6-0.

Ripon will now prepare for the MWC Championships, which will begin Saturday and continue into Sunday at the Nielsen Tennis Center in Madison, Wis.
