Red Hawks Lose To Simpson and Northwestern (Minn.)

RIPON, Wis. -
Ripon's men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday, losing to both Simpson College and the University of Northwestern (Minn.) by identical 9-0 scores.

In the first match of the day against Simpson (5-2), Ripon dropped all six singles matches, before losing all three doubles matches by a combined score of 24-7. In singles play, the Red Hawks were most competitive at the number six flight where Eugene Pliska dropped a hard fought match 3-6, 4-6.

Ripon followed that up with a 9-0 loss to Northwestern (Minn.) (2-2) in which they lost all six singles matches, while losing all three doubles matches by a combined score of 24-3. Ripon's most competitive match again came at the sixth flight where Chris Mooney put up a fight before losing 6-7, 2-6.

The Red Hawks (0-5) will be in action again on March 2 when they'll host Calvin College. That match will begin at 5 p.m. in The Field House at Willmore Center in Ripon.
