While playing halfback and quarterback for the Ripon College football team, Earl Wyman was recognized as one of the outstanding kickers in the Midwest. His athletic versatility was apparent in his basketball success at Ripon. Described as the nucleus of the entire basketball team, Wyman was also its leading scorer. For four consecutive years, Wyman was named All-Conference while playing Center. In 1916, as basketball captain, Wyman was the pivotal man in bringing a basketball championship to Ripon. His athletic career continued as one of the first officials of the present National Football League (NFL). Ripon College is honored to have the Wyman Gymnasium named for one of its outstanding athletes.
