While at Ripon College from 1940-43 and again in 1946 after a stint in the service, Jim Seidl earned seven letters in basketball and football. He twice captained the basketball team and received All-Conference honors in both sports. During his four years of playing halfback, Ripon garnered four conference championships. However, Jim’s achievements were not restricted to the playing fields. He was the S.N. Pickard award winner his senior year for excellence in academics and athletics, was elected a charter member of the Wisconsin High School Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame and was named 1980 Wisconsin Athletic Director of the Year in District IV. His entire 37-year professional career was spent teaching, coaching and serving as athletic director at Ripon High School, where his teams won nine conference championships.
