Nick Johnson lettered in both baseball and basketball at Ripon College, but it was as a pitcher and centerfielder that he stood out, ending his career as runner-up for NCAA Division-III National Player of the Year during his senior season, which saw him set single season school records for batting average (.545), hits (79), RBI (63), total bases (141) and slugging percentage (.972). A four-time All-Conference First Team selection, Johnson was named Midwest Conference Player of the Year three times and MWC Pitcher of the Year once, leading Ripon to two MWC Championships and three NCAA postseason appearances. Named to the 2003 ABCA All-American Team, Johnson was also a three-time All-Region selection. He finished his stellar career with a .403 batting average and school records of 42 home runs, 183 RBI, 180 runs scored, 401 total bases and 91 walks, while ranking fifth in career victories on the mound with 22. As a basketball player, Johnson was a part of two MWC Championship basketball teams, while helping Ripon to two NCAA tournament appearances.
