Jeff’s tenacious defensive backfield play on the gridiron landed him three consecutive All-Conference selections. A starter for four years, he was named team captain and was voted most valuable defensive player during his three seasons, while establishing a Ripon College record for career interceptions (26). A captain on the baseball team, Hughes was named to the 1977 All-Conference team.
