As a student at Ripon, Charles Larson was a conference singles tennis champion, before becoming a coach and leading Ripon’s tennis and swimming teams to 14 conference championships. During Larson’s 24 years as coach, the men’s tennis teams won six consecutive conference titles. After just two years as women’s tennis coach, Larson guided the team to a perfect 14-0 record and their first conference championship in 1988, before repeating as conference champs in 1989. Larson served as Ripon’s swim coach for 20 years, winning conference championships in 1971 and 1972. In addition to his coaching positions, Larson served as professor of physical education, chair of the physical education department and athletic director.
